Schedule (tentative)

9:00 Meet at Sendai Station
(Exact point to meet will be shared later)

9:00-9:30 Depart from Sendai Station to Sendai Port

9:30-10:00 Stop 1: Tsunami evacuation building

10:00-10:15 Move to Arahama area, Sendai City

10:15-11:30 Stop 2: Arahama elementary school (disaster memorial facility) and Arahama beach (seawall)

11:30-11:45 Move to Yuriage

11:45-13:00 Lunch at Yuriage area, Natori City

13:00-13:30 Stop 3: High ground and tsunami memorial stone

13:30-14:00 Move to Iwauma City

14:00-15:00 Stop 4: Millenium Hope Hills (evacuation hills made of tsunami debris)

15:00-15:30 Move to Yamamoto Town

15:30-16:30 Stop 5: Nakahama elementary school (disaster memorial facility)

16:30-17:30 Move to Sendai Station

  • Route from Conference Venue to Sendai
    Take the Tokyo Metro to Tokyo or Ueno Station. From there, take the Tohoku Shinkansen train to Sendai Station. The trip takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. You will need both a regular train ticket and a Shinkansen express ticket.
       
  • International flights from Sendai
    There are some international flights from Sendai to China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan.
